Chica was a homeless puppy picked up by some friends in the hills of Kentucky. It's a tough, mean world out there for a pup with no home and at less than a year old, she had already had a rough life. Covered in ticks and slowly starving to death, this resilient little girl spent the day at the cliff with us as we climbed all day, feeding her and picking ticks off during our down time. I think my friends knew that I could be talked into adopting her if we couldn't find her another home.
Chica with her new parents!
The best I can figure, she is a chow shepherd mix, her physical growth a bit stunted, but emotionally very well balanced and happy to be part of a family. She was somewhat shy but friendly with us. Last I heard, she was doing very well. Dogs have an amazing ability to thrive in the face of adversity. I have a feeling she's gotten over her shyness with her new owners taking her along almost everywhere, including work!
