Ginger

Ginger is an out-of-towner.  She was visiting with Frankie and wanted to check out the Adventure Walk.  Any friend of Frankie's is a friend of mine, so she was definitely welcome!  We had a great time.

She is a nice, even tempered Golden Retriever.  She got in the jeep with us and was visibly distressed, probably being away from home, then being piled into a strange car with a strange dog and an even stranger guy had her a bit concerned!  No worries, when Frankie came out to load up, she put the pieces together.

It was hot on our walk, not as hot as it's going to be, but hot enough for this girl and her thick coat.  She came to me nice and clean, but I knew that water was going to enter into the picture before too long.  She waited until Frankie got in first, then tiptoed into the water looking back at me to make sure it was ok.  I had to encourage this, and before I knew it, she was laying down in the shallow river with a big, goofy, satisfied grin!

Frank was very happy to have her along and didn't miss the opportunities to show off, running around like a fool and trying to get her riled up.  Ginger was determined to show me why the Golden is one of the most popular pets out there.  She remained obedient and well behaved throughout our entire walk.  Few dogs take to an unfamiliar handler as well as she did, but there were times when the hunter in her showed up.  We got a couple of good scents, and she made it clear to me that it was worth checking out!

Really, though, the picture below says it all.  Marshall and Frankie, both distracted and trying to behave for a photo.  Ginger sitting, calmly and quietly, giving that look that says "Those guys may be fools, but you don't need to worry about me!"
