Orla

Orla is a big hit!  A medium-sized Rottweiler, I fully expected to be handled by this dog on our first walk.  What I got was a huge surprise.

In all fairness, I had not worked extensively with a Rottie before walking Orla.  She proved to be an excellent example of a dog's potential for obedience (she rivals many labs I've worked with).  Though not "professionally" trained, her parents have put quite a bit of work into teaching her to be a mild-mannered, well behaved dog.  It shows.

Rottweilers need strong leadership, being a keenly intelligent and strong breed.  With Orla, calm, confident, and comfortable handling is rewarded with an eager, obedient follower who can even be coaxed into doing things that she may be uncomfortable with!

Professional dog training has it's place.  At the end of the day, it's up to the owner to take responsibility for their dog's actions and control their behaviors.  When a dog takes to an unfamiliar hand as quickly and effortlessly as Orla has, it can only be the result of consistent leadership at home.

Orla can be a bit shy with strangers, but with a gentle approach and time to investigate a new person, she warms up quickly and becomes very friendly!  She is very attentive, but prefers to be reserved until she knows she can trust you.  I look forward to working with her in the future!
