Tess is a Chow/Shepherd mix. At about 12 years old, she is the oldest dog to go on adventure walks! Tess does very well, interested in everything and always making time for a full investigation of a strange scent. If I weren't around, she and Marshall would probably hunker down and sniff at the leaves all day long!
At home, Tess is in charge of her small pack. She lives with a couple of pugs, so she has learned to be patient and gentle. With an even temper and quiet confidence, Tess seems at home no matter where I take her on our walks.
Certain breeds have been singled out as "dangerous" and, unfortunately, Chows have somehow earned this reputation. Maybe it's the black tongue that makes people afraid, or all the fur. Tess is a wonderful example of why breed profiling is a bad habit to get into. Give her a little respect and she'll soon be pawing you asking for you to keep petting!
